Fresh Meat Monday - The Dirty Demographic
Would you care to introduce yourself?
Howdy, we're The Dirty Demographic
How would you describe the music you make?
We write Indie-Pop for piano, moog, drums, bass & 3 part harmony. We use a ton of influences but we really loving Ben Folds, Weezer, The Divine Comedy, Aidan John Moffat/Bill Wells & Everything Everything.
How did you start out making music?
We all met at University, starting jamming together and took it from there; only in the last year have we been taking the band seriously however.
What process goes into the way you write songs?
Different ways; I (Angus - Piano/Vocals) usually come in to rehearsals either with a finished song or with ideas for one. The guys then flesh out what we have into full band tunes. Some songs we're working on just now have us all writing & arranging them.
What can people expect from your live shows?
We go full throttle at our gigs, elbow dropping the piano, crowd tackling and audience sing-a-longs are expected at every show. Other essentials include party poppers, candy (to be thrown so not hard-boiled...probably) & backflipping. Dancing is essential - "The Running Man" is encouraged.
What are you all listening to at the moment?
Angus(Piano/Vocals): Anamanaguchi & The Neil Cowley Trio
Andrew(Moog/Vocals): Duke Special & The Mathletics Team
Ewan (Drums): Weezer & Guns & Roses (Chinese Democracy) [*apologies btw*]
Alan(Bass/Vocals): Givers & Everything Everything.
What can we expect to see/hear from you in the future?
We're working on a double a-side single we'll be launching later in the year so look out for that. We're also putting on more gigs in the coming months around Scotland.
Other than these come check us out at The Art School on Thursday 3rd May.
