15 Years of Chemikal Underground at Celtic Connections

Next years will see the rather wonderful Chemikal Underground record label hitting the ripe old age of 15, and to celebrate they will be hosting their own night as part of Celtic Connections. Taking place on Sunday the 31st of January, the line up boasts an array of talent from their roster, including the debut live performance of The Unwinding Hours, the band formed by ex-members of Aerogramme. The line up in full looks like something like this

The Unwinding Hours
Lord Cut Glass
Emma Pollock
Aidan Moffat
Bill Wells
Adrian Crowley
Zoey Van Goey

with other surprise guests to be announced, possibly on the evening (don't you just hate it when they tease you). I don't about you, but to me that looks like a belter of an evening, plus it's at the end of January so hopefully everyone will have been paid by then. God I hate January, what a shit month it really is. Tickets are on sale now at £15 plus a £1 bf, you can buy them here.

The Phantom Band announce Christmas show in Glasgow

Another day, another great Christmas show announced in Glasgow. This time it's the brilliantly bonkers Phantom Band, they will play the Arches in Glasgow on Saturday the 12th of December. Support on the evening comes from Lord Cut Glass, which pretty makes it a no-brainer, having been blown away by them earlier in the week this promises to be one of the best gigs you'll see all year. Tickets are on sale now here.

Chemikal Merchant

Sunday nights, for me the worst night of the week, that impending feeling of doom at the thought of having to go into work the next day can be a real killer. Sunday the 27th of September will be different though, as Martin John Henry, Lord Cut-Glass and Rick Redbeard (the Phantom Band) are playing a free gig at Bar Gandolfi as part of the Merchant City Festival. The gig should be pretty special in this intimate venue, withAlun Woodward performing songs from his excellent debut album under his Lord Cut Glass moniker, MJ Henry showcasing some of his new post-De Rosa material, and Rick 'Redbeard' Anthony adding his stripped back folk sounds to what promises to be a belter of an evening.
