Friday Freebies

I Build Collapsible Mountains
Last week, the legend that is Luke Joyce designed that pretty new banner you see above, then he went and topped it all off by tipping me off about this band. At first he failed to mention that it's his own little side project, which was kind of embarrassing as I had gotten highly over excited and started gushing over it. God I sound like such a girl sometimes. Anyway, there are three songs available for free download on their Bandcamp page. I strongly suggest you check them out, then you can gush too (did I just make the word gush seem really rude?).

The Douglas Firs
Aberdeen/Edinburgh shoegazers, The Douglas Firs have put two unreleased songs up for free download, Acolyte Firelight Diorama and Whiteman's Tribal Diorama can both be downloaded for free over on their blog page.

Randolph's Leap
Their new EP, 'Eerie Indie Adam', is up for free download on their Bandcamp page.

Jack James
The Glasgow indie-folkster has just posted his new album, 'Quarter Life-Crisis' up for free download on his Bandcamp page.

Blackbird Blackbird
Let's Move On Together EP is free to download on his Bandcamp page.

How to Destroy Angels
Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails fame has a new project entitled How to Destroy Angels, and they have put their first EP up for free, you can download it here.

Winning Sperm Party
The amazing Scottish indie label has put not one, but two of their new releases up for free download. Head on over to their homepage where you can find an EP from Rory McIntyre and an album from Eternal Fags.

Debutant
Having recently released an excellent split single with Conquering Animal Sound on Edinburgh label Gerry Loves Records. Now the one man Edinburgh dream pop outfit have posted two songs to download, 'Definition' and 'La Pucelle' can be had for free on his Bandcamp.

Hot Hot Heat
We had some Hot Hot Heat last week but there's another track from their forthcoming album, Future Breeds available here. I really like this, makes me want to listen to them again after the disaster that was Happiness LTD.

The Drums
Anyone like The Drums? Not too into them myself but there's a cracking remix of Forever And Ever, Amen by St Etienne. If you don't at least nod your head and tap your feet a wee bit then you're not human. Get it here.

Kowalskiys Komplimentary Korner

Curators

After doing some snooping about, our good friend 'The Doc', has come up with this little gem, a live recording (26 minute 26 second long MP3) of the Curators entire set from Stereo (22/04/10). Its posted on their Facebook but you don't have to be a member to access it. The direct mp3 link is here. "The sound quality is great, apart from the sound engineer burping twice! Better out than in though...."

Festive Freebies

I know I said there would be no more Friday Freebies this year, well to get round this I have gone with Festive Freebies as to be honest there are far too many cracking tracks out there that I had to share them.

Kid Canaveral

Having stalked the Canaverals for over a year now, it would be fair to say that I am just ever so slightly excited about their forthcoming album. After listening to their new song 'Good Morning', which they are giving away as a wee taster of what's to come, I think you will be to. Just head on over to their Bandcamp page and download yourself a copy of one of the catchiest pop songs you'll hear all year.

Martin John Henry/De Rosa
The ex-De Rosa frontman has put up a copy of his old band's Christmas variation of one of their songs, 'Under The Stairs (Christmas Reverie)'. You can enjoy this festive treat here

Broken Bells

Olo Worms

Y’all is Fantasy Island
The greatest band to come from Falkirk since Arab Strap are making a re-appearance in 2010, having been somewhat prolific in 2008 (they released a whopping four albums), 2009 was a fairly quiet year. 2010 looks like they'll be back with a bang, to kick the year off they've put their single 'Play On the Weekend’s Sunny Days' up to download for nada here.

Jack James
Glasgow singer/songwriter Jack James recently launched his debut album, 'Lights off, headphones on', which he's very kindly put out as a free download (although I am pretty sure you can buy a physical copy if you like that sort of thing. You can get yourself a free download here.

Warp
The pioneering indie label are giving away a selection of their 'Hottest Acts For 2010' over at the Guardian, their hot tips for this year include Nice Nice, The Hundreds in the Hands and Gonjasufi, check them out here.

Here you go; The Album Leaf "Falling From The Sun", Bassekou Kouyate and Ngoni ba "Muscow", Retribution Gospel Choir "Hide It Away", AFCGT "Two-Legged Dog" and Beach House "Norway" (yes I know I have already featured this, but somebody might have missed it, plus it's good enough to feature twice).

Cats and Cats and Cats
The London Post-Rockers are giving away a cop of their festive song '
If I'd had antlers' here.

Julia and the Doogans
If you didn't sign up their mailing list as I recommended a while back, then get your finger oot and you'll get yourself a free MP3 of their song 'Glasgow'. They have also put up a new song called 'Maps of the World' up to download for free, it's only available until Boxing Day, so no dilly dalying about, go get it here.
