We are Mark (vocals / guitar), Jonathan (guitar), David (drums) and Andy (Bass) and we are LUCA
How would you describe the music you make?
I’d like to think It is different from anything in the Glasgow Music scene at this particular moment, not that it’s revolutionary or anything, I just think it would be hard to pigeonhole us. We take influences from a variety of different bands, we as people all have pretty eclectic music tastes and that allows us to be able to construct songs in a certain way.
How did you start out making music?
We started the band when Mark, Andy and myself met in college. Subsequently we found our drummer David on gumtree. He was on there looking for an "intimate encounter" but we soon swung him round to the idea of playing drums for us, but that first practice was mighty awkward.
What process goes into the way you write songs?
In our case it can be a disheartening process writing songs, sometimes we go into practices with the sole intention of writing a song, we sit there for about 3 hours and come up with nothing, coming away frustrated. Then sometimes we go into practices with the sole intention of tightening up our set and come away with the foundations for 3 songs. Our songs always seem to happen on accident when we’re not concentrating on song writing.
Every song come from a core idea that someone will bring to the table, be it a vocal melody, guitar part etc. Then we all pile on top of it and see what we come out with. For example our last single single "Summer" we had that bass riff to begin then the vocal melody came after that. We crafted all the other parts of the song around those 2 parts.
What can people expect from your live shows?
Expect us to let the music do the talking
The songs we play have lots of variations; we try to create a real atmosphere with our music when playing a gig.
What are you all listening to at the moment?
In the van were currently re - listening one of our favourite albums ‘Brand New - The Devil and God are Raging Inside of me’, which is a complete album in our opinion. Also listening to ‘Opposites - Biffy Clyro’ great album and a real testament to Biffy as a band.
Locally were loving Mono Six's debut ep (Bring Us Together) the song We Were Electric is outstanding
What can we expect to see/hear from you in the future?
Well be having an album launch in Glasgow early May followed by our first Scottish tour just after that we cant wait to get on! It’s a 7 date tour that we should be announcing soon. We’ve spent so long in the studio it will be good to get out on the road playing shows After that we have a few festival appearances lined up and we support Chapel Club back in Glasgow on the 4th June so that should be fun as well.
It is quite exciting for us at the minute because our Mini Album is finally due out on the 1st May and its been a year in the making so were excited to get it out there and see what people think which should determine what we will do later in the year.
