Weekly Round Up (14/03/2010)

I am going try and bring a bit of order to my postings, by doing a weekly roundup of stuff that I've posted during the week and things that are going on this week.

So if you haven't been on here all week, here's what you've missed.

Monday - I had the lovely Fiona Soe Paing as my Fresh Meat.
Tuesday - RM Hubbert's Vic Galloway session
Wednesday - The Boy Who Trapped the Sun was my latest 'Scots Way-Hay' victim.
Thursday - was all about sessions, Frightened Rabbit, North Atlantic Oscillation and The Pastels all featuring. 'Community Service' returned after a short hiatus, with a few words with the organisers of this years Hinterland Festival.
Friday - saw a ridiculous number of Friday Freebies
Saturday - Beach House's session for Marc Radcliffe, one of the most beautiful sessions I've recorded this year.

Now for some news and things that are taking place this week......

Miaoux Miaoux, or Julian from Maple Leaves as some of you might know him releases his new "Blooms" tomorrow on Koshka /Love and Cake Digital. On Tuesday (16th March) night Julian his having a launch night for the release at the 13th Note on. Support on the evening comes from Firebrand Boy and Errors DJs. Also, if you missed it in Friday Freebies, he has a free download of the track 'Hrvatski' up on his website.

Edinburgh band Isa & The Filthy Tongues have been nominated for 5 awards at the Recharged Radio awards, which take place in London on the 15th of April. They're up for Best Single (New Town Killers), Best Album (Dark Passenger), Best Video (New Town Killers), Best gig (Cabaret Voltaire) and Best Rock band. You can view the list of nominees, then vote here.

The Insider Festival has announced a whole host of bands for this years event, which takes place on the weekend of the 18th-20th in Aviemore. Bands announced so far are Joe Acheson Quartet, Sparrow and the Workshop, Woodenbox with a Fistful of Fivers, King, Arthurs Men, Mike and Solveig (with Mike Heron, of Incredible String Band), Jo Mango, Three Blind Wolves, Donna Maciocia, The Banana Sessions (of course), Horndog Brass Band, Jack Sandison and the Holy Ghosts, The Injuns, Claes Cem, John Langan Band and Over the Wall. Further details can be found here.

Also we Boab has threatened to start doing reviews again (rejoice), his timing couldn't have been better. As it one day after me putting a disclaimer on the site stating that I don't do reviews, he comes back saying that he has time to do them again. He's been set lots of 'homework' to do, so hopefully we'll see the return of the '62 word review' sometime this week.

This that will almost certainly be going up on the the blog this week include the following; interviews with King Post Kitsch, Midas Fall and the Gothenburg Address. A session from Meursault, Homegame recordings and hopefully (crosses fingers) some more Frightened Rabbit.
Plus we might have some exciting news about a wee gig, all will be revealed next week (hopefully).........
