Fresh Meat Monday - Oak Hero

Would you care to introduce yourself?

"Keith, Cally and Charlie, known in the trade as 'Oak Hero'. Hand-crafted music from the Northwest Highlands like." - Charlie

How would you describe the music you make?

"It is often quite difficult to describe your own music and I would find it hard to choose a genre that accurately described our style. A recent review of our e.p described us as "a fusion of clean folk with rough alternative rock, but with some strange rhythms which wouldn’t seem out of place on a hip-hop album." I think that probably makes us sound far more interesting than we are but I guess thats how we sound." - Cailean

How did you start out making music?

"We started making music a long long time ago, we got together for the first time when we met one day at the local playgroup and realised we had similar tastes in music. We only played 3 shows (at each of our birthday parties that year) but we got some great feedback from our mums and I still believe we were making our best music back then." - Cailean

What process goes into the way you write songs?

"Well a song usually starts out as a riff or chords or some lyrics in one of our heads. Then maybe myself and Keith'll sit down with guitars and work on a bit of structure, but jamming the tracks as a band is usually a big part of the process." - Charlie

What are you all listening to?

"Right now im listening to this band called Moriarty who I think are maybe the best band I've heard in quite a while." - Cailean

What can we expect to see/hear from you in the future?

"Quite a lot id say! We are all on such a buzz from the first E.P. that we are desperate to get back in the studio and record a second but at the same time we are eager to get out on the road and play to some new places. At the moment our plan is to set off on a summer tour starting around may, dates to be confirmed but if you check in at our Facebook page we will be sure to keep you posted." - Cailean

What can people expect from your live shows?

"I think its probably best to keep an open mind and try not to have any expectations when coming to one of our shows, that's what we do anyway." - Cailean
