Fresh Meat Monday - Garden of Elks

Would you care to introduce yourself?

We are Niall, Ryan and Kirstin, individually many names, depending on who may be referring to us... Together we have more hair than The Powerpuff Girls, though we settle on a grand title of Garden Of Elks.

How would you describe the music you make?

A bit like the after effects of an Ann Summers sale- loud, rampant and dirty, leaving you sweaty, satisified and anticipating your next hit.

How did you start out making music?

Niall was friends with both Ryan and Kirstin, conned them in to a jam. They've not been released since.

What process goes into the way you write songs?

Generally Niall births the songs from a guest house in Inverness where there is high grade oxygen and plenty of hot towels. He the records them acoustically from his lavatory, (whether seated or standing is unconfirmed), and sends them down to the big smoke via internet pigeon. He then brings the new bundles down to Glasgow on the mega bus, where Kirstin and Ryan dress them up for public consumption.

What can people expect from your live shows?

A furious furball of grizzly hair, spurred on by a bounding pop-dirge. Someone more eloquent recently described our Inverness show as, ' a touch of anger and a smidge of Stateside energy, rolled up into a ball of fury.' That was nice.

What are you all listening to at the moment?

Hmmm, Niall says Ringo Deathstarr, Marnie Stern and Bleeding Rainbow. According to Ryan's Facebook status he's listening to Black Flag (and the stirring of his own loins), which sounds about right. Kirstin is listening to everything that sounds nothing like this band.

What can we expect to see/hear from you in the future?

Our next show is supporting ICEAGE at Broadcast on the 25th of February. Ryan will be double dipping as he also plays in fellow support band No Island.   Aside from this, our second and third singles are currently being mastered across the big pond, and will be released very soon, some may say March.
