Fresh Meat Monday - Stanley

Would you care to introduce yourselves?

Hello, we are Stanley, a five piece ensemble of the musical variety.

How would you describe the music you make?

Dramatic. We also like to keep each song idea fresh and different from the last.

How did you start out making music?

We started making music as Stanley when the various members were studying at College.

What process goes into the way you write songs?

Steve would usually e-mail song ideas or even hand us printed-out instrumental parts etc. to the rest of us which we'd then work on at band rehearsals. We'd sometimes "demo" a song several times before we'd be completely satisfied with it - some of these songs would be fleshed out by adding orchestral parts, others were stripped right back.

What can people expect from your live shows?

An exciting and energetic performance of songs that feature on the album as well as trying out brand new material that we're already working on for our next one.

What are you all listening to at the moment?

Richard Hawley's latest, Anna Calvi, John Coltrane, silence.

What can we expect to see/hear from you in the future?

Well, we recorded 20-plus tracks for our new album, so we'll most likely stick them up for download onto our website www.stanleytheband.com. We should also have a limited edition 7" single of "Sandwiches and Tea" coming out very soon. Also, lots more live gigs all over the place (booking agents, please note)
