News, gigs and any other gubbins......

On Firday (17th) night a really exciting event is set to be held in Glasgow, Rock Chic combining high fashion and music set is being held at SWG3. The evening will feature live sets from Miaoux Miaoux, Pooch, Attic Lights, The Sould Foundation and Figure5, DJ sets from Glasgow Podcart and Spectrum, with various fashion designers showing off their work, plus Jim Gellatly will be running the show for the evening. All proceeds from the event will go to the Paul O'Gorman Leukaemia Research Centre at The Beatson who do simply outstanding work. Tickets are available now for £10 here.

The Detour kids return home to their return to their spiritual home Bar Bloc+ on Wednesday (15th), for the first of series 2's live nights. They've got the bands lined up, they've got some very specials guests on board, plus there will be all the usual chaos that you've come to know and love. They're keeping the lineup a secret, but if past evenst are anything to go by, then it should be something pretty special though - we like surprises. All we're telling you is that we are stupidly excited about the bands. It all kicks off at 9pm through until 3am and entry is free, further details can be found on their website.

'Primitive' Scottish pop outfit The Paraffins' are celebrating the release of their debut album, 'Snout To The Grindstone (out 27th Sept) with a truly unique launch gig. Next Saturday (18th) the band are doing a wee outdoors gig in Glasgow, next to the Clyde on that amphitheatre-like set of steps near where the Barfly used to be. A selection of acts will be joining them for event which sees all of the artists performing through ghettoblasters. Featuring sets from: The Paraffins, Annie Accidental, Circle Of Fathers (one-off project from Lachlann ex- Gay Against You) and The LugTones plus DJing from Lindsay Conn and Gav Surface Noise. If you fancy checking out this pretty unique event then it all kicks off at 2pm through till 6 in the evening, sounds like a lot of fun to me.
