Would you care to introduce yourself?
Yes we would, we are Ming Ming and The Ching Chings
How would you describe the music you make?
Feral, anxious and frenetic
How did you start out making music?
A friend at Glasgow Art School let us spend a few weeks messing around upstairs in The Vic Bar back in the summer of 2007. We decided after that to start making songs together and came up with the band name.
What process goes into the way you write songs?
We tend to have session where we jam various ideas form riffs or rhythms. We record the sessions, dissect the best bits and build up an arrangement for the song, all the while working out lyrics and vocals and the general overall idea of the song.
What can people expect from your live shows?
They can expect the gigs to be riotous, frantic, and energetic. There is a huge urgency and panic in how we play live. One of the last gig we played was spasmodic some members of the audience had to come and sit in front of the bass drum to stop the kit from falling off stage during our last number.
What are you all listening to at the moment?
… Listening mostly to our rehearsal recordings as were working on bunch of new tracks. Enjoying new albums by Steve Mason and LCD Soundsystem as well as The Strange Boys stuff.
What can we expect to see/hear from you in 2010?
We start work in June recording four new tracks for a untitled EP we plan to release in Sept/Oct. We have a launch night for our new EP “Not In Anybody’s Gang” @ Nice n Sleazys on Sunday 30th May, it’s free entry from 11-3pm (sorry about this - Peenko). We’ll be playing live as well as having Brazilian dancers, DJ’s and live visuals, then followed by Spectrum @ McChuills in June. We’ll also be DJ’n every night @ T In The Park in the main campsite tent from 11-2pm. Check out our Myspace for future gigs info and new tracks.
