Fresh Meat Monday - The Dirty Cuts

Would you care to introduce yourself?
Billy sings and plays synth, Kevin plays guitar, Matt plays bass and Karen drums.

How would you describe the music you make?
Catchy but visceral rock n roll, gentle and vigorous, like cuddling an over affectionate tiger

How did you start out making music?
I guess The Dirty Cuts started as an attempt to put a sheen of respectability on our binge drinking and misspent youth. We were all in bands and/or dabbling in the murky waters of underground electro but felt a compelling urge to team up and set the world to rights.

What process goes into the way you write songs?
Our songs generally start life as a hook or a couple of lines of lyric which are carefully crafted and developed, shamelessly pulled apart and recklessly thrown back together before being launched on a bemused, but adoring public.
WE DON’T JAM.

What can people expect from your live shows?
The sass of Blondie mixed with the drive of The Stooges – Dare you not to dance!

What are you all listening to at the moment?
Collectively – Elvis Costello, OMD, The Incredible String Band, The Velvet Underground, Snake Hips, Bappi Lahiri, Dead Kennedys & B-52s

What can we expect to see/hear from you in 2010?
Next Single ‘Yummy Mummy’ is out on July 26th
