Would you care to introduce yourself?
We're Foxgang, a homeless Glasgow 4-piece. At the moment we've got a lead vocalist frontman, 1 Guitar, Bass and Drums. We've had a few different line-ups and instruments in the past but this one's working for us. We've released 4 singles on tentracks.co.uk.
How would you describe the music you make?
We describe it as up-beat Alt-Pop with a Redbull varnish. Other people have described it as 'quirky', and have likened us to a broad range of artists without terrible but not without vague consistency. Some examples are Talking Heads, The Smiths, The Specials, Gang of Four, Ian Drury and Blur.
How did you start out making music?
Well Ryan, the singer and I (Joe on guitar) met while we we're living as Ex-pats in Krakow and we formed the band with a few of guys and just got goin'! Then we moved to Scotland
What process goes into the way you write songs?
Songs usually begin one of two ways. Either the song starts with a riff or chord progression, and we all work it and shape it, then let Ryan write the lyrics and vocal melody, or he has the lyrics and direction ready, sometimes with a hook and we all put the music together. We're constantly tightening and polishing.
A Lot More Goes On (In A Year)
What can people expect from your live shows?
Lots of energy, dancing, animated band members, hand claps, broken strings and glass, cryptic remarks about Patrick Swayze and the songs played better than on the recordings; even if we get some perfect ones one day.
What are you all listening to at the moment?
I just saw a really good Glasgow band called Over the Wall. Findo Gask, White Heath, The Shins, Hot Chip, Vampire Weekend (for the right reasons) Rolf Harris (Ryan never ceases with the Rolf) As I'm answering this question I'm converting a vinyl version of Blur's 'The Great Escape' to Mp3 format, though it's scratched tae fuck!
What can we expect to see/hear from you in 2010?
Cheesewire Foxgang (MP3)
If you fancy catching Foxgang live then you're in luck as they are
