Introducing - Over the Wall
I have postponed posting about this band so many times now that I am starting to get annoyed with myself for not having done so already. My first reason was that I wanted to see them live before I said anything, unfortunately I have missed them so many times that I though it about time that I actually just get something out there. OtW came to my attention after reading about them on Line of Best, towards the end of last year, the gushing review got me somewhat excited and to be fair to the reviewer they pretty much had it spot on. Fusing a blend of Scottish indie rock with a splice of euphoric folky pop (does that sound right? probably not, but then again it might make more sense if you give them a listen), the band have just re-released their debut EP after the initial copies sold out. You can catch the duo supporting Baulky Mule at the Captains Rest on the 10th of May followed by a slot at the Stag & Dagger Festival on the 23rd, I really hope I catch them at one of these nights....

Stuck in the Middleton

Continu this post had originally been drafted up to post Malcolm Middleton's fourth cover a girl band pop song series, as yesterday he'd twittered that he'd just posted a new song up. Tunred out it was just a cunning ploy to get you to go to his Myspace and listen to his new single, devilish swine that he is. Today's offering is another new track which is being given away for free over at Stereogum, called 'Carry Me', which you can listen to below.

Arty Party

At a loose end tomorrow night? then why not get yourself down to Mono to check out an exhibition by the lovely Jenny Soep. 'That's right folks, this little expo is gonna be a darned sight more exciting than previously thought:

Great music by RM Hubbert, Opening by Alan Bissett, both are being drawn during their performances with the images projected nearby, all the while being surrounded by a very select collection of drawings of some of the most exciting and memorable gigs and musicians Jenny's experienced, including:
Bjork, David Byrne, Crystal Castles, Arab Strap, Jeff Lewis & The Junkyard, Edwyn Collins' Come Back Gig, Mogwai, Melt Banana w. Dananananaykroyd - ooh! ooh! ooh! and there's a fair bit more! VJ-ing and animatory magic by Mr Garry Whitton.

No more leaks

Pretty much as the title suggests, from now on I will not be posting albums on this blog. In the past few months I have had a fair few requests for me to remove various posts, which has made me reconsider what it was I set out to do with this blog, which was basically to introduce new music to my friends and hopefully some other folk might start reading it too. The biggest problem was it all grew a bit out control and now I find myself thinking that I am doing more harm than good to the bands that I love and want to share with you all. That is not to say that I plan to give this blog up all together, I still plan to feature things like the recorded live sessions, bootlegs, introducing new bands and just posting any newsworthy posts about gigs and the like.
I hope you'll continue to follow my blog as I will continue to work pretty hard at it, if you were only really wanting albums then that's fair enough I can't really argue with that.
I am going to start deleting all of my old posts which contain links to albums, time to start out a fresh.
Cheers

Meursault return with new EP
Launched at this years Homegame, the latest offering from Edinburgh's electro-indie stars (in the making) is a new EP entitled 'Nothing Broke', it's quite morose compared to their debut album. Limited to a run of only 300 copies you might be hard pressed to track a copy down, so keep your eyes peeled for it going on sale over on Mr Toad Records. As a taster of what to expect, here's the title track off the EP for your listening pleasure.Myspace

Crowley & Yorkston - The Invaders Salute Captain America
I promise to shut up about Homegame by the start of next week, until then I'm afraid you're stuck with me and my longing for Anstruther blues. Recorded for sale at HG only, this EP/mini album sees Mr Yorkston teaming up his friend Adrian Crowly to cover various Daniel Johnston songs, apparently they played a couple of secret shows at HG, but alas I never saw them. The covers can be a bit hit and miss, very much worth a listen though.
